Vida Tennis Essendon head coach Ryan Palfrey has been selected as the State (VIC) team coach for the boys Super 10’s team for the national finals. Teams from each state and territory will do battle at Melbourne Park during the Australian Open from the 28th of Jan until the 1st of Feb.
Ryan, along with other Vida coaches, Mark (Altona), Kristina (Altona), Ashleigh (Veneto) and Chris (Veneto) have been team managers in the Victorian leagues throughout 2014. The Super 10s Series is made up of four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams. These players are some of the best juniors in the same, many of which train with Vida on a weekly basis. Players play one singles and one doubles match during the team based rounds with matches timed and last for 50 minutes.
Ryan will coach the Victoria team which will consist of two boys (pictured above), Paris and Tyrone, who train with him at Essendon Tennis Club. Ryan said, “I will be a very exciting few days for myself and the boys playing in the National finals, at Melbourne Park, while the Australian Open in running. It will be an experience the boys will never forget.”
Ryan and his wife Jane moved to Melbourne in 2012 and in that time Ryan has established himself as a leader in junior development. A Tennis Australia talent development coach (TDC), head coach at Essendon Tennis Club, and valued member of the Vida Tennis team.
